To
close the 2012/2013 school year every Bauerwood student created a
pinwheel to celebrate the International Day of Peace, which is
September 21. The pinwheel is the symbol for the International Day
of Peace because it is meant to remind people of their childhood,
when things are suppose to be carefree and simple.
Each
students wrote and/or illustrated what peace meant to them
individually. There were a wide variety of designs; To some it meant
getting along with their siblings, participating in something they
love, enjoying a peaceful moment, living in a peaceful community, or
world peace. The students' pinwheels were placed back to back with a
classmate's to promote collaboration, teamwork, and community. The
students really enjoyed creating these colorful and meaningful
pinwheels.
